Wilmington Monthly Meeting was established in 1750 by Chester[Concord] Quarterly Meeting out of Kennett Monthly Meeting (PA). After the Hicksite Separation of 1827, there were two monthly meetings at Wilmington. The Society of Friends (or 'Quakers') was formed by George Fox (1624-1691), a shoemaker from Nottingham.
